Labelscope Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 September 2026

Labelscope is an iOS app that uses your device's camera to find words you choose on ingredient labels. This policy explains what information the app handles, what stays on your device, and what is shared with third parties. The short version: your keywords and camera images never leave your phone; the only data that leaves the device is what the advertising provider needs to show ads.

Information that stays on your device

Labelscope has no user accounts and does not operate its own servers. We do not collect your name, email address, or contact details.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of Labelscope shows ads served by Google AdMob, part of Google LLC. To deliver and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect information such as:

Labelscope does not request permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites (Apple's App Tracking Transparency), and ads are served on a non-personalised basis. How Google uses this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are shown a consent message on first launch, provided through Google's User Messaging Platform. You can change your choice at any time using the Privacy Settings link on the app's home screen.

Ads are removed entirely, and the advertising SDK stops requesting ads, once you purchase "Remove Ads".

In-app purchase

The "Remove Ads" purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of purchase data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Camera permission

The app asks for camera access solely to scan labels while the scanner screen is open. You can revoke this at any time in iOS Settings; the app will still run but will not be able to scan.

Children

Labelscope is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Because the app stores nothing about you on our side, there is no account to access, correct, or delete — deleting the app removes all locally stored data. For data collected by Google in connection with advertising, you can exercise your rights through the in-app consent settings and through Google's My Ad Center. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date revised. Material changes will also be reflected in the App Store listing.
